These aircraft carriers were built to complement ArrestorCables, the freeware utility that provides seamless cable trap and catapult capability. See web site URL above.

(THE ONLY REASON THEY ARE CALLED "ARRCAB" CARRIERS IS DUE TO THAT ASSOCIATION WITH THE ARRCAB UTILITY -- the utility does not affect the scenery, and the scenery does not affect the utility, but both affect your aircraft.)

This package completely replaces all previous ArrCab carriers due to fundamental improvements, repositionings, and creation of new ships.

Remove all existing ArrCab carriers from your FS Scenery Library and existing "ADDON SCENERY\ArrCab Carriers.." folders and files from your disk before installing this package. If you had installed them CACHED then after removing the scenery library entries you should probably clean out your scenery cache (see FS docs).

IMPROVEMENTS IN THIS PACKAGE
----------------------------
-- This is a complete package, including textures -- it contains all the textures needed for the carriers, but none for static aircraft. I've decided that static aircraft should be in a separate package and scenery library entry to give the user the choice of not installing them or quickly enabling and disabling them. There are no static aircraft on deck in this package. Some people like it that way for multiplayer games anyway.

-- Scenery is MORE persistent than in previous releases. If you START on a carrier, that carrier will not need a refresh, even if you fly far away and return. If you START your session far from a carrier and fly to it, then it WILL REQUIRE A MANUAL SCENERY FRESHENING upon arrival within visual range of your destination boat. I've tried everything I can think of to avoid this problem. This is still a fundamental improvement. If you plan to start far from a carrier and fly to it, consider starting your session on the boat, then use Goto Airport to jump to your starting airport. Maybe that will work for you. Refresh behavior may be system-dependent. Thanks for this fix go to Paolo Zamparo of Italy, who discovered it while reverse engineering a CVN-73 GW into his Friuli/Trieste sceneries.

-- Pop-up blast shields are included; CVNUpgd2.zip no longer necessary.

-- VORs have been fixed (there was a magnetic variation problem).

-- All carriers now appear in GPS and can be selected as a GPS destination.

-- The "Goto Airport > Add on Scenery" menu entries have been fixed to have one main entry and subentries for each ship (instead of a main entry for each ship).

-- CVN-74 in Strait of Juan de Fuca, Washington, USA, no longer flattens the nearby terrain inappropriately.

-- CVN-71 USS Roosevelt has been placed at more useful locations; there is no longer a CVN-71 placed in the Gulf of Oman.

-- CVN-73 USS Washington has been placed at more useful locations; there is no longer a CVN-73 in the middle of (nowhere in) the Med.

-- CVN-75 USS Truman: I had planned to remove this ship, but I've learned that there are certain kinds of wargames which require a carrier far from shore playing a defensive role. This boat is _far_ from shore.

-- More carriers have been placed at various locations.

For your information:
-- The documentation is written for FS2002 and I'm not providing support for FS2000. I've not even tried this new scenery in FS2000.
-- If I knew how to make working elevators and a meatball I would do so.
-- With the release of this package and the associated "do it yourself" kit, I am declaring this project complete and will no longer add ships. All of my goals have been met. If a permanent refresh fix is found, I'll definitely release an update, but aside from that, this is it.

CREDITS
=======
This scenery was built starting with Javier Fernandez' detailed FSDS source files, and with technical assistance from Javier Fernandez, Frank Foreman, John Morgan and Paolo Zamparo. Doug Horton provided testing and invaluable feedback and suggestions.

I also had testing help from my friends at www.VUSAFs.com: Steve Berube, Larry Mangum, Charlie Solomon and Craig Stothard. Thanks guys!

Also, thanks to Enno F. Borgsteede for BGLGEN, to Manfred Moldenhauer for SCASM, to Pascal Meziat, Tom Hiscox and Brian McWilliams for Airport2.6, and to Louis Sinclair and the folks at Abacus for FS Design Studio Pro.
